Calcutta Police has arrested a second-year graduate student for allegedly posting provocative posts on social media against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The accused has been accused of inciting the assassination of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by referring to the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her Instagram profile.

In his post, the student wrote, "If you can shoot Mamata Banerjee like Indira Gandhi, I won't be sad," Indian media NDTV reported.After several activists of Mamata's party Trinamool Congress brought the post to the attention of the authorities, it quickly gained attention.

In addition to this, the Calcutta Police filed a complaint against the 31-year-old apprentice doctor who was raped on August 9 at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata for revealing the identity and photo.

A statement issued by the Kolkata Police said, "The accused posted three stories related to the recent incident at RG Kar Hospital from his Instagram ID 'KirtiSocial' account. The posts revealed the picture and identity of the victim, which is against the law.
