When setting up the camera, is Zmodo QR code not working? This is a very common problem for many customers, but luckily, there are a few trusted solutions you can try to get it resolved as soon as possible.
1. Examine the camera lens and lighting
Set your phone's brightness to the highest level. If the lens is dirty or the illumination is low, the Zmodo camera will be having difficulty scanning the QR code from your screen. After cleaning the lens, try scanning the code in a place with good illumination.
2. Confirm appropriate Wi-Fi settings
Zmodo cameras support only 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. Attempting to connect over a 5GHz one will invalidate the QR code. Check your network once again and ensure your phone is connected to the same 2.4GHz network.
3. Reset Zmodo Camera
Almost all configuration problems can be fixed if the camera is reset to factory conditions. While holding down the reset button for ten to fifteen seconds and until you notice the LED in the camera blink, it will reset. The reset button is often found on the bottom or rear of the camera. This method is applied so that one might try setting up via QR code once again, but this time, without the prior configuration in the camera.
4. Update Zmodo Firmware
At times, the problem arises because of outdated firmware when trying to scan the QR code. Update Zmodo firmware using the app by going to device settings. Afterward, try the QR code setup again.
5. Alternative Configuration Method
If by chance the above does not work, try setting up the camera using the Zink option in the Zmodo app. This will set up the camera without scanning any QR codes.
